RHAA Awards

RHAA ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

This award is given to an incoming first year student for high academic performance during his or her previous scholastic career and exhibiting a well-balanced combination of community, industry and scholastic activities prior to attending Ryerson.

Eligibility:

All students entering Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management for the first time will be considered for these prestigious awards provided that they:

  • Provide a copy of the official transcript that was submitted with their Ryerson application exhibiting high academic performance.
  • Submit a résumé indicating their past community, industry and scholastic achievements.
  • Demonstrate in writing, a clear understanding of their motivation for selecting Hospitality and Tourism Management as their field of study at the university level, in a type-written, double-spaced essay not exceeding 750 words in length which addresses the following topic: “Why I Chose Hospitality and Tourism Management for my Professional Academic Education”.
  • Complete a budget form. Canadian Citizens/Permanent Residents/a Protected Persons and Ontario Residents must use this OTSS budget form; all others please use this budget form. The budget form is required to be given consideration for all awards.




RHAA GREEN AWARD

This award is given to a student who has completed second year and going into third year with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.


Eligibility:

  • Submit a short essay on the topic “What level of responsibility does the Hospitality industry have to operate in a sustainable manner? What are the benefits (financial and otherwise)? What contribution should students make to this effort?”
  • By application
  • All applicants must be a full time student with a Clear standing in the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • All awards are subject to change without notice




RHAA SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD

The RHAA strives to help in the creation of networks that promote and support professional and social connections.

Awarded to a current student in any year of the program who has demonstrated an awareness of this value and has contributed in a significant way to the creation of professional connections for the school and its students

Eligibility:

  • The winner will have done this either by actively participating with the RHAA and its activities and/or by being an active volunteer in the University and HTM communities
  • By Nomination
  • Nomination by their fellow classmates, their teachers and/or the RHAA Executive via a letter that details their activities in support of community building
  • All applicants must be a full time student with a Clear standing in the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • All awards are subject to change without notice




RHAA COMMITMENT TO THE INDUSTRY AWARD

The RHAA is committed to industry connections as the foundation for our success.

This award is given to a student who has completed third year and has demonstrates their commitment to our industry through/by related work experience, volunteering for industry related events, and/or leadership initiatives at Ryerson.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must demonstrate in writing, a clear understanding of their motivation and continued commitment to their chosen sector of the industry. The applicant should include summary of their experience.
  • Submission ​format should be a type-written, double-spaced essay not exceeding 750 words in length
  • All applicants must be a full time student with a Clear standing in the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism ManagementAll awards are subject to change without notice
